University of Minnesota Employee Wellness Program Rebrand

The University Wellness Program offers health plan participants the opportunity to improve their health while reducing future monthly healthcare costs by between $400 - $600 month. We wanted to prioritize enrollment in the program for all Facilities Management employees in 2017, with special focus on ensuring second and third shift employees, of whom, English is a second language for most, are aware of the program and its real financial and health benefits.


The prior branding and messaging around wellness was felt to be very serious and sterile, so we wanted  the rebrand to emphasize that the program is easy, fun, and beneficial. We also needed to consider accessibility and again, language barriers.

This was a collaborative effort between myself, other Office of Sustainability student communication employees, and the Wellness Program coordinator. We worked together to come up with the new bright and colorful smiley face branding and six month campaign.
